It must be a good year for the guard. The recently released Indiana Junior All-Star team
has a guard flavor, with the six-member south squad being all guards.
The Indiana Junior All-Star team is chosen each spring with the purpose of drilling the
Indiana Senior All-Star team in two summer exhibition games, designed to prepare the senior
players for their upcoming home-and-home series with their Kentucky counterparts.
The Junior All-Star team will scrimmage with the Senior All-Stars in two exhibition games
this summer on June 13 and 20. The locations have yet to be determined. The All-Stars will
be coached by New Castle's Steve Bennett, assisted by Jerry O'Brian and Basil Mawbey.
Three teams of six players are chosen each year to be all-stars. The first six, or the "core"
team, will play in both exhibitions. The second six, or the "north" team, will play with
the core team for one exhibition, while the third six, or "south" team, will join the core
team in the other exhibition.
