I think Sam already compares quite favorably to Maya - at least with regards to the high jump metric - despite the reduced level of competition compared to what Maya faced.
Sam faces other challenges Ms. Moore did not have to face. Namely trying to juggle track with AAU basketball commitments hundreds of miles away! That kind of travel has a tendency to put a damper on her development as a track athlete.
The bottom line, which I tried to present to des, is that Sam has the hops to play above the rim. At least enough to be able to dunk. And last I checked, we haven't had too many kids with that kind of athleticism on the team over the years. Considering how long it took Sharon Versyp to offer Sam, my guess is we will all be pleasantly surprised when Sam arrives!
