tell us how you really feel (LOL). You've fallen into the trap almost everyone falls into and that's believing everything you read in a newspaper or on an Internet site. Don't think for even a second that Matt Painter just happened to hear about this kid yesterday. My guess is that he is someone Purdue has looked at in the past during an AAU game, a high school game or some mother venue and for whatever reason decided not to pursue him. But, things change (like Martin deciding to leave) and that changes the scholarship outlook so that it may be worth taking a gamble on a player like John Hart. By all accounts, he's an excellent athlete with a lot of upside potential and I suspect he's probably a solid citizen as well. Right now, Purdue looks set next year at Guard, but both Kramer and Grant are ? due to injuries and surgeries and Painter may be thinking he needs an insurance policy in case one or both of them can't play for an extended period of time. If I'm looking at this right, Purdue only has 10 scholarship players next year (Green, Calasan, Reid, Kramer, Grant, Moore, Johnson, Hummel, Jackson and Smith) and at least 2 of those players (Reid and Smith) are huge ? as to how significantly they might contribute. Frankly, this looks like a pretty smart move to me, albeit it also means Purdue probably has struck out in trying to sign a JUCO big guy.
