Last minute changes since the last post (1 Feb) has resulted movement:
-The Big Ten, in general, dropped a bit
-ND and Oregon went up
Using Rivals rankings as the baseline for listing the teams, the LoI Day COB* results are as follows in Rivals/Scout format:
Team, National Rankings, # of Recruits
PSU, 12/9, 20/20
ND, 14/19, 23/23
UofM, 19/12, 27/27
TOSU, 26/20, 18/18
MSU, 29/32, 21/21
Iowa, 42/45, 21/21
Minn, 50/68, 24/27
PU, 54/49, 24/26
UofI, 69/60, 20/20
NU, 77/57, 17/17
UofW, 86/33, 24/26
IU, 92/58, 25/25
Our Boilers are #7 in the Big Ten according to Rivals and Scout. Gerry DiNardo was enthusiatic on the BTN show and gave Hope a #4 (and an A+ for effort). Last year we were dead last in Hope's first try. So there is improvement. Movement into the top three or four next year will probably be necessary to contend for a Big Ten championship.
For those who think rankings are meaningless the Rivals view of UofW makes the case. Kent State with only 5 ***s is ranked above the Badgers. (Kent may be better than Indiana as Rivals notes, but their credibility is in question regarding Wisconsin.) Similarly, Scout apparently has no use for the Gophers.
*Business is not really closed. Late signees, JCs, academic casualties, personal problems, medical issues, etc., will continue to change the landscape until kickoff around Labor Day.
