I read Tom Lemming say that things are different in the SEC, because recruiting never stops, while other conferences coaches go on vacation. I guess that holds for this board as well. Not that there is much out there, but I noticed that all the recruiting talk was ending up on the regular football message board, so here's some stuff for those who still take a look at this board.
First, the Hope situation is ideal, if I am reading the recruiting rules correctly. A head coach is only allowed to make one visit to a prospect, but assistant coaches are allowed six. That means that Hope can target the guys he wants and needs and make repeated trips to see them.
Purdue should have around 20 commitments for this year. The most glaring need is at WR, where the top 5 guys in terms playing time will all graduate. In fact, those are the only 5 guys on the roster who have lined up as a receiver in a game.
Finally, the state of Indiana looks to be in good shape in terms of recruiting this upcoming year. Morgan Newton is a Top 10 QB, Kyle Koehne is a 6-6, 300 lb. Tackle with multiple Big Ten offers. Tyler Eifert is a TE holding a Purdue offer. All 3 of those guys are listed on the ESPN 150 Watch List, along with QB Jordan Luallen, TE Ed Hazelett, and LB TyQuan Hammock.
