Wile stiining in a doctor's office waiting room this afternoon I read an interesting article on John Wayne in Forbes mag. the author stated that most of todays young men don't have any idea who John Wayne is and haven't seen any of his films. Though the author was anything but a big fan of Waynes, the article did include the following quote:

"Wayne stands for "male" virtues well worth preserving. the contemp of pettiness and the love of hard work. The courage to be lonely in pursuing your goals. The respect for radically diverse personalities (You can't help being you and I can't help being me.....) Above all, the willingness to fight and die for a cause bigger then youself"

It went on to quote a John Wayne line from the Movie Rio Grande, as follows.

"He must learn that a man's word to anything, even his own distruction, must be honored"

Obviously Mr Roundtree hasn't ever learned that leason even when dealing with people who were willing to commit a scholarship to him before he was anything but barely a 3 start recruit. His lack of class is further shown in the fact that he changed his mind the day before LOI were due. I wonder if he called Purdue before he sent the ltter. He should fit in perfectly at UM.

As an aside, that line "I can't help being me and you can't help being you", just might apply to the posters on this board.
