This guy gets it: most football games are games of possession, and whoever manages the clock better or squeezes out an extra possession or two is going to have a better chance of winning.
There were other coaching triumphs in the SB but going for it on 4th and goal from the 2 was the right call -- you need touchdowns, not field goals, especially with two minutes left -- and the onside kick was a bet-the-game strategy that paid off. Then, whatever N.O. did on defense to nick the Colts for a 4 yard loss that made Stover miss when it was 17-16, and then the Porter pick, were both great plays that may have been aided by some astute film watching.
