and I'll agree that there's no need to demonize the kid, but at the same time you are defending his football abilities and I've got to take great exception to that. Fact is he OFTEN went half azzed about his business. Running 3/4 speed, taking a very minor 'push' at someone as a block attempt, etc. "I" saw that with my own eyes on MANY occasions.
4th options are going against linebackers and safetys (rarely). He should have absolutely DOMINATED those situations, but except for the ND game (where he was essentially ignored by the defense) he never did. What does that say about his abilities.
You say exceptional speed but when did we EVER see any sign of that?? No way in H that guy is a sub 4.4 runner. Nope.
He could never get separation, never learned to use his large body for positioning.
I wish Lymon well, he's a Fort Wayne kid too, but he's not nearly a good enough FOOTBALL player.
