Possible explanation

Our hosting provider moved our site to new server hardware yesterday
afternoon. In previous cases, they've done a pretty decent job of
moving the site from one server to another.

In this case, it appears as though some of our forum post files were
not moved to the new server. Apparently, they backed up our site
before the hardware swap was started. And then backed up the files
that had changed after the hardware swap was completed. This would
explain why the forum was up to date, but the post files appear to be
lost in space.
