Basically, we've been hesitant due to the fact that we have the security
and administrative features with this forum that allows us to keep the
forum open to all visitors. Since this is a hobby for the adminstrators,
we don't have the time to fight through another mad rush of forum problems.
We (OGFP) are one of the few forums that doesn't require visitors to register
their username before posting a message.
As of just a few months ago, our spam numbers (due to scriipt modifications)
have dropped from a few hundred a day to less than a half dozen a week.
I can look into other forum options, but I cannot guarantee anything. I've
got these forums at a point, where I'm considering easing some of the
current posting restrictions.
A quick search of the phpBB forum shows that they are fighting through a lot
of the security problems that we have already mastered.
