Battle of the '16s
Purdue fans in the Louisville area will get a chance to view two of the top class of 2016 players on the Purdue recruiting board. On January 11 at Freedom Hall in Louisville (KY), Indianapolis Roncalli will face Elizabethtown (KY) in the first game of a five-game showcase featuring high school basketball teams from Indiana and Kentucky. The Roncalli/Elizabethtown matchup tips off at 11:00 am, and tickets can be had for $10 for all five games. The other four games feature boys teams from Indiana and Kentucky.
Roncalli, the high school that last season sent Bridget Perry to Purdue, has sophomore guard/forward Lindsey Corsaro in a lead role following the graduation of Perry. Corsaro is avergaing 19.7 points and 11.3 rebounds through six games this season. On the other side of the court will be 6'2 sophomore forward Erin Boley for Elizabethtown, another player on Purdue's 2016 board who holds offers from UCONN, Stanford, and most of Division I. Boley is generally ranked in the top 20 in most prep rankings, as high as No. 3 by All Star Girls Report.
Big Ten Recruiting
Iowa received the first commitment from the class of 2015. Tagyn Larson, a 6'2 forward from Sioux Falls (SD) Roosevelt, chose the Hawkeyes over Iowa State and Nebraska. Larson averaged 11.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game last season as a sophomore.
