The Purdue women's basketball team received their fourth commitment for the class of 2014 today. Utah 6'4 center Haley Bodnar, who is currently on the Purdue campus on an official visit, announced via Twitter today she had chosen the Boilers.Haley Bodnar @haybodz: it's official!!! Just have my verbal commitment to play basketball at Purdue!!!!! I'm so excited!!!! :) #futureboilermaker #soblessed The Class 3A Defensive MVP from Saint George, Utah, averaged 13.6 points and 10 rebounds as a junior. She comes from a basketball family, as her mother played for Snow College and her father played for the University of Pittsburgh. During her participation at the GSB All-American Camp that showcased the talents of players from the Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Utah regions, scout Ray Caldwell had this to say ... "In the day of the face up post player, Bodnar is the rare kid that cherishes scoring with her back to the basket. With an array of running hook and jump hooks, including a few off of the glass, Bodnar exhibits an advanced skill set. The soft handed Big can also hit the open 3. She uses the lower half of her body extremely well to pin defenders and gives a great target for her guards. She should translate well to next level as physical rebounder, defender that can hit the trail 3. Bodnar utilizes the Sikma pivot at the pinch post to create space for her high released shot." -- Ray Caldwell Bodnar is the second player with both facing and back-to-the-basket post skills to commit for the class of 2014, plugging a roster hole Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp will have when her three junior post players graduate in 2015. Bodnar is said to have range out to the perimeter, which is another similarity she has with fellow 2014 commitment Bree Horrocks. Just two weeks ago, Horrocks hit two three-pointers at the Full Court sponsored Fresh 50 Invitational in Georgia. Along with posts Bodnar and Horrocks, the 2014 class also consists of 6'1 forward Erica Moore and 5'9 guard Justine Hall. Purdue is also hosting 5'10 guard Andreona Keys of Roswell, Georgia this weekend, and if rumors hold she will be Purdue's fifth 2014 commitment.
