Purdue gets home visit with Napheesa Collier

Purdue has a home visit scheduled on September 10th with Missouri combo forward Napheesa Collier. The 6'1 junior has Missouri visiting on the 9th, followed by Purdue the next day, then a list of ten additional programs through the month of September. Other Big Ten programs paying visits are Maryland on the 12th and Nebraska on the 26th. Home visits are allowed for high school juniors as a result of a rule change. Coaches used to have to wait until a player's senior year to set up a home visit. For all intents and purposes, September 1 officially begins the heavy recruiting process for junior high school players. Not only are home visits being set up, coaches are allowed unlimited texts and phone calls to junior prospects beginning September 1.

Maggard to attend 40/40 Camp

Junior Darby Maggard has been invited to the John Lucas 40/40 Camp in The Woodlands, Texas. The invitation-only camp is a classic exposure camp with sponsorship from the Nike side, so you see scouting from the likes of Blue Star and Boo Williams. Most of the evaluators in attendance are involved in the voting process for the McDonalds All-American game, and a good showing can boost a player's McDonalds stock. Players are evaluated through a series of skill stations and during competitive games. The goal of the Lucas camp is to bring in underexposed players, work them out, and pick out the underexposed that deserve a little more exposure.

This and that

Louisville Assumption's Nora Kiesler visited Indiana for their home opener against Indiana State this past Thursday ... the first contact from a college that junior Arika Ogunbowale received was from Purdue in the seventh grade ... 2016 Michigan guard Kysre Gondrezick visited Michigan State this past weekend with her sister ... Merrillville junior forward Victoria Gaines is considering Purdue, Michigan State and Texas ... 2014 target Kortney Dunbar committed to Tennessee during a weekend visit.

Big Ten Recruiting

Northwestern received a commitment from 6'2 Maya Jonas of Whitefish Bay (WI). The senior forward chose Northwestern over about 20 offers from programs such and Dayton, DePaul, Michigan, Indiana, Marquette and Wisconsin. She averaged 11.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 assists during the 13 games she played last season before suffering a season-ending ACL tear.

Senior guard Katelynn Flaherty of Point Pleasant Beach (NJ) has committed to Michigan. The 5'7 scoring point guard picked Michigan over Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Vanderbilt and Louisville. Flaherty is rated 25th by Blue Star and 34th by Full Court. She averaged 30.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds for a 26-2 team that took the New Jersey Group 1 state title.

We have done some extensive updating to the Big Ten commitments page for the classes of 2014-2017. If you see any players missing, just drop us an email under the "CONTACT" link at the very top of the page.
