Scouting Lamina CooperOne thing is for certain, Lamina Cooper has been getting rave reviews over the past six months on her play. Purdue was rather blessed to get a commitment at this point in time, as her stock was rapidly on the rise. Some comments on her play from around the world of basketball ...
Louisville Elite Camp observer..."My favorite player of the camp. Takes the initative to score and does it well. Steals on defense. Great passer, too. Cooper dominated in the minutes she received in the session ending "All Star" game ... scoring 12 points in a 35-22 romp by her squad for fifteen minutes.." (June 28, 2013)
ProspectsNation scout Jonathan Hemingway..."The ultimate mismatch player for the Indiana Spiece Gym Rats is Lamina Cooper of Indianapolis, Ind. The 2015 player is nearly impossible to guard with the ball in her hands in the open court. Her ability to finish around the bucket provides the perfect balance to an already skilled Gym Rats team." (May 28, 2013)
Lawrence North head coach Chris Giffin..."I can’t think of anybody being a better defender in the state. She’ll guard from 6’5 to 5’5, and I think over time in the course of the game with the way we play fullcourt, that wears on you." (January 15, 2013)
Makayla Waterman chooses Ohio State
Makayla Waterman announced her intention on Twitter today to join the Buckeyes in 2014-2015. Waterman recently reduced her list to two, and had originally planned to visit Ohio State and Purdue before making her decision.
For those keeping count, that is four players from the All-Ohio Black AAU team committed Ohio State for 2014. Another All-Ohio Black teammate, 6'2 forward Kathryn Westbeld, has mentioned she will choose between Ohio State, UCONN and Notre Dame. Call me psychic (or Mr. Obvious), but Westbeld will make it five.
Brittany Ward get another offer
According to Brandon Clay or ProspectsNation, 2015 Indianapolis wing forward Brittany Ward has gained a new offer from Marquette. Ward is one to keep an eye on, as she is the kind of player that can defend and play both forward positions.
