A new recruiting target name comes from the backyard of the Big Ten's newest member, Nebraska. Chatrice White of Shelby (NE) is a 6'3 sophomore post that has a legitimate three-point shot, and averaged 18.1 points and 13.2 rebounds as a freshman. Following her freshman year where she set 11 individual school records, she was being considered among the top players in Nebraska regardless of class. While also averaged 4.6 blocks and 2.9 steals, and had career-highs in points and rebounds of 33 and 19 respectively -- twice.
White plays summer ball for the Cornhusker Shooting Stars Bison program, and was a teammate of 2015 forward Jess Shepard, who gave an oral commitment to Nebraska in August.
According to the Lincoln Star, as of this summer, White already had a handful of scholarship offers that included Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Drake. Purdue is showing interest, as well as most of the basketball landscape after a breakout summer season. Other Big Ten names being mentioned are Minnesota and Michigan.
White said over the summer she was looking for a college program "somewhat close to home with a good basketball program and good academics."
