Hempe to Virginia
A player on Purdue's 2012 watch list has decided to stay close to home. 6'3 Merritt Hempe of Falmouth (VA) chose Virginia over Purdue, Florida State, Georgia and Virginia Tech. The 4.0 gpa carrying Hempe is a mobile post player with good hands and good rebounding skills.
Purdue has offer to Goodin-Rogers
According to Marion (KY) head coach Trent Milby, Purdue has extended an offer to sophomore forward Kyvin Goodin-Rogers. The 6'1 Louisville legacy averaged 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds. Her father is a former Kentucky Mr. Basketball and played collegiately for Louisville. Louisville is said to lead Kentucky, Purdue and Western Kentucky. Goodin-Rogers, along with fellow teammate Makayla Epps, attended the Louisville season opener last week and both players were seen at Kentucky's opening practice. Epps, the daughter of former University of Kentucky standout point guard Anthony Epps, is either a UK lean or a Louisville lean, depending on who you trust more in the intra-Kentucky civil war between UK and Louisville.
Big Ten Recruiting
Two high school teammates of Purdue commitment April Wilson are getting Big Ten attention. Louisville Manual junior Kara Wright is being looked at by Michigan State, Ohio State, Indiana, Northwestern and Minnesota. And Northwestern is looking at 5'6 junior teammate Leasia Wright.
Iowa received a letter-of-intent from 5'4 point guard Kathryn Reynolds of Mount Notre Dame (OH) for the class of 2011. Reynolds picked Iowa over Nebraska, Princeton and Michigan State, and also had offers from Kentucky and Ohio University. Reynolds said she chose the Hawkeyes after feeling comfortable following her first visit, and the fact she had become very familiar with the team watching Iowa play on the Big Ten Network last season.
