Purdue women's swimming has gained a commitment from senior Emily Fogle or Barrington, Ill. Fogle, ranked by Swimming World as a four-star prospect, holds a long course senior national cut in the 100-meter breast (1:10.97), and an NCAA Division I B cut time in the 100-yard breast (1:02.61). She is the defending Illinois state 100 breaststroke champion.
The magazine's ranking system of stars is based on swim times as they relate to the previous season's national qualifying marks. A top ranking of six stars means a prospect has posted a time that would have placed in an A Final or multiple B Finals at last year's NCAA Division I Championships. Fogle's four-star ranking is reserved for prospects who had short course yard times that would have given them a qualifying mark and/or multiple B Cuts at last year's NCAA Division I Championships.
Also on Purdue's radar is 5-foot-5 senior Lauren Stauder of Carmel, Ind., who set a Indiana Swimming record in the 200-meter Breaststroke of 2:30:49, and a Nationals 100-meter time of 1:11.24. Stauder is rated as a 5-star prospect by Swimming World. She has visited Purdue, as well as Indiana, Tennessee and Notre Dame.
